St. Louis Belt Route System

There have been 3 interstates that comprised the bypass system of St. Louis back in the 1960's and 1970's. In 1974-1976, the planners changed all that, putting all on a single route. Only one route number has been consistent ever since the first stretch opened in 1962.

The interstates that made up the belt route system.

Interstate 270. (1962 - present)

Interstate 244 (1967 - 1976).

Interstate 255 (1967 - 1976; 1985 - present).

NOTE: The 270 link takes you to the IL Interstate 270 page, the 244 link takes you to the MO I-270 page.
